February STEM Awards

Matthew Mendez and Jay Snyder

On February 6, 2019, McPherson Magnet School celebrated the STEM Awards of the Month at our monthly flag salute.  STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and science. The STEM Awards are for students that get recognized for working hard in their STEM class.  The teachers who teach STEM classes are Mrs. Andrade, Mrs. Truong, Mrs. Conrad, and Mrs. Duncan. They are all great teachers and make sure to teach everything the students need to know about the STEM topic.

We interviewed the teachers and some of the students who won the award.  Peter Astro said that he was happy to win the reward. “All of my friends congratulated me,” he added.

Mrs. Andrade said that it is always hard to pick just one student every month but it always comes down to the effort put toward their project that they are working on. “If you want to win the award next time, work your hardest and try your best,” she said.

Mrs. Conrad and Mrs. Truong agreed. Both teachers said that while it was always a tough decision, they picked the hardest working students and who try their best.

McPherson recognizes the top STEM students each month at the monthly all-school flag salute.
