McPherson 6th & 7th Grade team falls short to Yorba Linda

Drew Nagler, Staff Writer

On December 10, 2018, the McPherson Meteors played against Yorba Linda. The final score was 20 to 12, Yorba Linda with the win. It was very disappointing and will be hard to come back next game. The bright side is that we got really close to victory but fell short by 8 points. After Winter Break McPherson will be going against Portola. I spoke with a couple of McPherson’s players, and they all thought they were ready for this next game. They all said that coming close in this last game was huge for them so now they fell a little more comfortable. They also said that we have a huge break ahead of us and we might want to practice in their backyard to stay warm and not get rusty. Connor Smith our Quarterback said, “ It’s tough to lose games that close but you just gotta let them go and move on”.

That was the closest game for the 6th and 7th-grade team this season and that should give them some momentum going into the next. Yorba Linda scored three touchdowns and McPherson scored a total of two touchdowns so from what I see we were only one drive from tying this game and another from winning the game. Our next game will be tough against Portola especially because we are going on a three-week winter vacation and right when we come back from that break we will be playing that game. It’ll be interesting because most everyone will be a bit rusty depending on what they do during their break.
