The game against Yorba on Monday, December 10 was a great game for McPherson. It wasn’t the closest game but, this was a great game too learn from. The end score was 39-12. Although, the game did start off pretty close. McPherson got the ball first and scored. It was a QB run by Owen Smith and they went up 6-0. Next possession, Yorba also had a nice run and then ended up scoring and tying the game 6-6. It took McPherson a second to figure out the defense, but they eventually did. They capitalized on a coverage mistake and McPherson threw a touchdown pass to Sam Astor. They also converted on the extra point to Carson Ferry. For the rest of the half, McPherson was able to shut down Yorba. The score going into half was 14-6.

McPherson was able to gain momentum back quickly with an interception by Owen Smith. That very next possession, they increased their lead by throwing another touchdown pass to Justin Tims. McPherson also got the extra point and went up 22-6. Yorba got the ball back and threw a great pass down the field to help them get in good field position. They were also able to score on that drive but they couldn’t complete the extra point. The score was now 22-12.

It was about halfway through the second half when McPherson scored again. This was another QB run by Owen Smith. This touchdown put them up 30-12. McPherson shut down Yorba for the rest of the game and also got another touchdown to Carson Ferry. McPherson got the win and definitely learned from it.  After this game, McPherson’s record is now 2-1. They are looking forward to next week’s game on Monday, January 7, 2019.
