On Monday, November 26, 2018, Mcpherson’s 6th and 7th-grade football team played Its the first game of the season against Santiago’s football team. McPherson’s team lost 38 – 0 and struggled on defense. McPherson’s offense was able to get down the field but was never able to turn it into points. Defensively, McPherson wasn’t able to hold Santiago’s offense as they scored on almost all of their possessions. Grant said, “At practice, they really need to work on their defense and maybe here and there on their offense”. Grant also said, “We should work better as a team and communicate better”.

Next week McPherson will be playing Cerro Villa which I heard was a good team. We know we have a challenge next week and would be very big to win this game. I asked Connor Smith hoe big would it be to win this next game and he said, “It would be huge and a mental booster for our team”. This game was tough to lose but it’s only the first game into the season and will be hoping to win next time out and maybe throughout the season. We hope that from here on out every year our McPherson’s flag football team can get better and better every year.

Hopefully coming into this next game we can grab an early lead and get some momentum and win this next game. We all know it’s always tough to lose your first game and win games but if our players gain confidence are the team could seriously pull off with a couple of wins.
